Bawdeswell Activities Group (BAG)
The group was founded by Project Bawdeswell to set up and organise events in and around the village for the benefit of the residents. We are a small group of volunteers and are restricted in what we can do by our small numbers. Details of the background and origins of the group are on our About Us page. We are now a sub group of the Village Hall charity.
Currently we run activities afternoons for children during school holidays and a few specific activities for adults. See our Current Program page for details.
Is there something that you would like us to organise in the village? Let us know and we will see if there is enough interest to do it.
Our aim is to provide or facilitate activities for all age groups in the community at the Village Hall and Sports and Recreation Field. To obtain funds for sports and other equipment for various outdoor and indoor activities by local fund-raising and from grants. To recruit volunteers to run activities and ‘man’ the Village Hall.
Can You Help?
The group needs more volunteers to help with running the school holiday and other activities. Can you spare the odd afternoon to help us? Each session is 2 hours plus ½ hour setting up and another ½ hour clearing up. Can you spare 3 hours once a week in the holidays? If you want to help, please download a Volunteer Application Form. You will need to be CRB checked and will be offered 1st aid training and will either undertake child protection awareness training or receive a briefing on this.
Following on from recent generous donations and pledges the total raised locally has reached £60,000. Our work on Stage 3 of the Lottery application is continuing with submission required before the end of the year.
At the AGM on 3rd May 2012, Janet Cockburn who instigated BAG and has been heading the Group for the last 5 years stood down as Chair of the BAG Committee although she will continue to help as a volunteer..
The new Chair is Karen Green and the Secretary is Katherine Stevens-Webb. Fel Roberts is Vice-Chair.
BAG needs more volunteers so, if you can spare a few hours now and again please contact us.
Fantastic News:- We have now secured sponsorship for the whole of our 2012/2013 program and can therefore bring you the most recent movies. We have an exciting program for April to August which includes additional dates in April and July. Our Autumn program will be published in June.
Art and Craft Workshop
on Wednesday 26th October 2011
at Bawdeswell Village Hall from 10am to 12 noon
Nicola from the Breckland Book Festival will be running the morning workshop inspired by the book‘NO MORE YAWNING’ by Paeony Lewis.
Plus there will be time to make something for everyone to take home. Breckland is providing the materials.
There are 15 places for children between the ages 5 – 11. Places will be booked on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. We have been asked that each individual child or family has a parent or guardian who can stay during the workshop to supervise their child’s [children’s] work.
The cost is £2 per child.
Please book with Janet (Bawdeswell Activities Group)
on 01362 688749 or e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
BAG are very sorry that, due to a volunteer being unwell, the Kite making this afternoon will be postponed.
With the pending demise of the ‘eastinvolve’ project and web sites, BAG is now hosted on a ‘norfolkparishes’ site. The transfer may make some references invalid and some links may not work. Also, some documents may not be available.
I shall be working through this site over the next week or two and correcting/amending the content as required. It is also an opportunity to generally update the site.
In the meantime, if you have any queries please contact us by email.
With the completion of the Portakabin Meeting Room at the Village Hall, table tennis is now on every week INCLUDING [due to demand] some Bank Holidays. Every Monday at 7.30pm
BAG IS SHORT OF VOLUNTEER HELPERS. PLEASE CONTACT US IF YOU CAN SPARE A FEW HOURS DURING SCHOOL HOLIDAYS.
Bawdeswell has a new Facebook page listing events in the village.
